 Arriving in Port Stanley |
The visitor's center on the island |
The flag for the islands, it is a British overseas territory |
The terrain is pretty rugged here! |
Rockhopper penguins! What we came to see. |
These guys ere adorable! It was freezing out but I didn't want to leave them to go inside! |
They hop from rock to rock - thus, their name |
This was summertime - the temperature was 1 C |
 Too cute! |
This guy reminded me a bit of Sarge (Madagascar) |
 They were so adorable |
 Rockhoppers |
I couldn't get too close to the edge, but they would dive off from here into the ocean |
Four by fours on the rugged terrain, it was bumpy! |
Oops, got caught in the fence! |
Liz's farm - she was one of our drivers |
A welcome sign at the dock |
 More wildlife - a dolphin gull |
Our mission was to find English wine gums at West, the local store (they were expensive & they were stale) |
Mission completed, our next assignment was to try the fish & chips at the Globe Pub |
And Jim of course needed to try the local beer. (Boddington's I believe it was) |
We timed it so that we would be at the dock for the last tender, but there was a huge line-up as the sea was too choppy! |
So we walked around a bit while we waited. People were telling us it would be a long wait. |
The most southern Anglican Church - Christ Church Cathedral. It's on their banknotes. |
The whalebone arch in front of the cathedral |
The sea didn't look that chopy from the dock! |
But, yep, it was very choppy! We waited for an hour and finally boarded at 5:00, an hour after we should have left. |
