Are you related to Martin? I love your sensibility, and the back scratchers delighted me.

Leland, Again...wonderful , beautiful captures of instances of street life in your Chinatown.
This time we were back at Taishan and visited Bark Sui, where the "Homs" are from. Richard

Aloha Leland! Great hearing from you, I was thinking about you. Did you do the Nihonmachi St. Fair Poster this year? Colette

Leland,

Your Chinatown gallery brings back alot of memories for me. I grew up in Chinatown in the 1960s. My parents owned a grocery store on Kearny and Jackson. I graduated from Galileo in 1974. I still visit North Beach and Chinatown every weekend. Your pictures have so much depth behind the images. Great work, indeed.

re: Wedding work. My pbase is an old site. I really don't shoot many weddings anymore. But if they come around, I'll do them.

Hello. Today I put in a search for " Iu Mien" on google and came across your pictures. You have photos of my family during the Iu Mien Pan hung celebration in Oakland, Calif. The pictures are wonderful. I see the faces of my family and community in your photographs and the feelings that comes to me are indescribable.

Leland, really enjoy your photographs. NYC's Chinatown has spread---as you've heard---but has not yet reached where I live in the Lower East Side. Alas, Chinatown's dancing chicken is no more.

Hi Leland,
Your China Town life gallery shows our Chinese community in San Francisco day to day life.

Leland,
Thanks for visiting my galleries. Sorry you had a 'rough' time at Hilo High in '74. Advancing age does a lot to mellow folks the group you saw in my Hilo High Reunion photos were very mellow. Incidentally, I'm not a Hilo High Grad so I have no axes to grind.
Took a look at your ecletic galleries. I've been away from San Francisco Chinatown so long nothing in your pictures looked familiar except perhaps the great food. The same could be said for Japan Town. Maybe one day I've got to go back to these towns. The girls in "Hot Nights in San Mateo" seemed determined to undermine the stereotype of flatchested oriental girls. Go get 'em girls.

Would love to see the photos of your travels around the world.
Aloha

Thanks for visiting my photography exercises again. Your nice comment told me the stories behind and let us know more about the public estates in Hong Kong. I'm delighted with your kind comment. I will try to do my best to record the daily life of people with my pictures and all the comments are very rewarding for me.

Hi Leland,
Thanks for visiting my galleries.

Hi, Leland! Thanks for your comment. Yes, her eyes (in fan-tastic photo) seem bright. In prints they are not as so, but I think when I increased contrast for web versions, the white went off the chart lol.

Take care -- Rod :)
