It's official. The medical profession has confirmed what I have known for many years: I am a very, very sweet person and a little bit cuddly to boot. Can I say 'I told you so' to all the cynics who said that I was nothing more than a surly ranter? Now, on top of all the circumstantial evidence from people who know and have experienced my more dulcet side, I have empirical evidence from the people at Britain's National Health Service (a service I will be using a great deal from now on) showing that there is an inordinate amount of sugar, in the form of unabsorbed glucose, coursing through my veins. They blame my sweetness on an underactive thyroid, and they have given me medication that will, in the fullness of time, make things a little better. I don't know too much about the diabetes with which I have been diagnosed - joining 200 million others. What I do know is that I have to be more careful about what I eat and tell everyone I know that, contrary to outward appearances, I really am a very sweet person.
