862. Ne'erday at Camperdown

1 January 2007

Happy New Year to you all; I hope that you are not too badly hungover: I was fine when I woke up this afternoon! Some bad, yet all too inevitable, news to start off the new year: the Isle of Bute wreck (the Co-worker: made famous by Zak and Northstar) was broken apart by the storms that lashed the island last night. Zak has been out and is currently collecting as much of it as he can to sell on Ebay (and if he isn't, he should be!). Although it was bound to happen sooner rather than later, it is no less sad. Bute has lost one of its most photogenic icons and tourist attractions. Despite the fact that the wreck has only been on the beach at Ettrick Bay for four or five years (at the most), in that short time it became an integral part of the area. It will be strange to see the Bay without it again. Perhaps we ought to pressurise the council to commission a full-scale bronze replica of it to be put in its place! Maybe Johnny Bute and the owner of the Ettrick Bay tearoom can pay for it!

Farewell to the Co-worker gallery

I like the darkness of the house and trees with the blue sky filtering through the tree branches...V.

Indeed a fine shot, Stu. The wreck is a sad loss too.

Ah, I remember that ship well, OK only from photos, but even that is a testament to how famed it was. This is a bute (sorry) of a shot, Stu. Pin sharp right the way through, perfect exposure, composition and sombre yet sensuous colours.

The end of an era then - it will be much missed

posh looking building, it must be quite dark in there though!
