I have rediscovered my Carl Zeiss Jena lens, and have been using it during the past couple of days. I had forgotten how nice it was (well, nice for a lens that cost £25, and which only fits on the D70 with the aid of an M42 adaptor, and which has no infinity focus). It certainly takes a nice image, and gives them an almost Pre-Raphaelite look which I find very appealing. I think that I will be spending the next few days learning to like it again (despite its limitations). I spent most of today reading. I currently have four novels on the go - much to Linda's annoyance as she follows me around the house putting the bookmarked books in a neat pile in my study, only for me to redistribute them to their rightful places as soon as her back is turned. The books that I am currently reading are Lewis Grassic Gibbon's Sunset Song, Sebastian Barry's A Long Long Way, C. S. Forester's The General and Umberto Eco's The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana. Once I have made my way through them, I will read one again - this time more closely. So far Eco's book is the front runner for my undivided attention. As well as these novels I am also reading short stories and plays for my English and Spanish classes (Italo Calvino's Adam, One Afternoon, Grassic Gibbon's Smeddum, Sid Chaplin's Grace Before Meat and Alfonso Sastre's Escuadra Hacia La Muerte), and I am also dipping into Albert Camus's The Myth of Sisyphus, while reacquainting myself with George Sorel's Reflections on Violence and translating Raul Brandao's Os Pescadores. It's no wonder that I have no idea what's happening in any of them! I should try to remember the limitations of my gender and concentrate on one thing at a time!
