709. These grapes sure were sour!

6 July 2006

One thing that you can truly say about some of the pundits who provided us with our fair and balanced coverage of England's participation in and exit from the FIFA World Cup--some of whom are supposedly serious people--is that they are extremely gracious in defeat . . . and not at all racist (only the Scots can be racist, apparently--and it's alright to make comments about us or the Portuguese--we're fair game (or so it seems), just take a look at some of the comments that have been left on Andy Murray's website to see some of the 'non-racist' remarks that are being left by a peurile minority of St George's Cross wrapped neanderthals who bring shame to their whole nation).

Of course England was cheated. Aren't they always? I thought I had heard it all, though, until the whole of the English tabloid media (notably The Sun and Talksport Radio) decided that their new favourite team was . . . France!

I swear, it's a murrakul--the French must be wondering what they've done to deserve this! This must be the first time that the gutter press has ever had anything good to say about France! On another note, I hear it from a reliable source (well Talksport, actually) that thousands of English people have cancelled their holidays in the Algarve following Portugal having the audacity to knock England out of the World Cup.

Apparently there are parties on the streets of Faro!

Agreed with all of this - I just don't get the so-called English pride thing at all. Oh and the truth is England simply weren't good enough - if you're going to win the World Cup, you've got to be able to play for more than a draw.

Hi Nicolas... that's something we would have had in common then! I'll be in France in a couple of weeks - so I hope France win; it will make it a much more enjoyable holiday!

Oh yes, I really wonder why the Sun becomes suddenly keen on the french team...
Hey, Stu, I would have supported Scotland if they had been in the worl cup !
