Sorry this is late, but yesterday we only just got back from our short hike in the country in time to see the England v. Ecuador game. Barely had we recovered from that almost interesting competition than it was time for some tea in preparation for the main event: Portugal versus The Netherlands. What a game that was... and for all the wrong reasons! Poor refereeing and a complete lack of discipline by the players resulting in 16 yellow cards and 4 sendings off (two for each team). I must admit (although I may be biased here) that I thought that The Netherlands were the worst offenders: rarely have I seen such cynical fouling by players who had lost control of the game and seemed hell bent on getting the opposing players sent off. They were a disgrace. In saying that, though, they knew that the referee was card happy, and they also knew that it doesn't take much to get the Portuguese angry! Well, at least we know who will be knocking England out of the tournament - even if they are without Deco and Costinha, and perhaps Figo and Ronaldo. Força Portugal!
