Rape seed is one of Strathmartine's most important early crops, which means that in May and June, the whole of the strath is bright yellow from Pitempton all the way to Newtyle. This was taken at Dronley, which is about halfway along the valley.
We grow it here in Australia but call it canola. Ours features widely throughout
the cereal growing areas during the months late September through October to November depending on when its sown. Nice comp Stu.
Great shot and treatment: but I hate this stuff... -- it makes me sneeze, and, although I know it's a financially-rewarding crop, it despoils the countryside with its garishness. (Rant over... -- off for a wee dram to calm me down... ;-)
