Up bright and early this morning. Much to do and see. It is always the same when I come down to Bute - I have to visit the relatives, which means that there is much less time to visit the places that I always want to see when I'm home. After breakfast, we went up to see my sister for a few minutes. We got away quite easily, and headed out to photograph the island's three castles. We started with: Wester Kames and Kames castles, because they were on our route to Scalpsie Bay, where we saw some seals, and where Liam went paddling in the water. We stayed there for about an hour, then headed off to Kilchattan Bay to join the West Island Way to Glencallum Bay. It was a bit of a hard slog in the heat, and once we arrived we both leapt in the water. With time our enemy, we couldn't stay long, and had to make our way back to the village for something to eat and drink. We headed back to Rothesay, passing a familiar car on the way to photograph Rothesay Castle and my aunt's house to say our farewells. By 4pm we were on the Rhubodach Ferry. We stopped off at Arrochar, on the banks of Loch Long for something to eat, and we took in the spectacular views of the Arrochar hills, including THE COBBLER. From there it was off down LOCH LOMONDSIDE to Balloch and across to Sirling and thence home. Arrived back in DUNDEE at 7.30pm. We were both tired, but we both agreed that we had had a good time, and that we are ready to do it all again during the October holidays.
