Dudhope Castle

28 July 2004

99.
Today I had chores to do. I had to varnish two doors for my Mother-in-Law. That meant staying indoors all morning and breathing in rather unpleasant fumes that gave me a splitting headache. Once the task was done, I knew that I needed to get out into the fresh air... the 4-mile walk home would do me good. Unfortunately, however, I had come out without a coat, and there was a thick haar and some rain. Not only that, it was actually quite cold. I got a taxi instead. Most of the rest of the day was spent trying to shake the headache and researching an article I have been commissioned to write. The weather has been miserable - the haar did not lift all day. I did manage to get up to Dudhope Castle (which is in the centre of Dundee), though, and got some nice pictures of Dundee! So all was not lost...!

Thanks Nnorthstar for explaing what haar is to those of us who didn't know.

I like the way you made the forfront the focaling point, and the 'subject' the DOF. Kewl!

Har-de haar (what's haar, precious, eh? what's haar?)
It's the humidity. Pardon me again, for a second day.
Love the styli(s)ed thistle; got pricked by one tonight in my own back yard. And, I could have done some varnishing, but I had a beer instead! At least you had something to show for your headache!

Really like this one; I too assume it was foggy, and the castle reflects this. Interesting depth to the picture with the vase so close. (That varnish stuff will knock you out!)

What the hell is HAAR??? fog? sounds like my brother when he coughs in the morning from the cigarettes....puh-leeze, Stewart, quit varnishing in enclosed spaces...BTW, I really like this composition.

I shiver thinking of a world without photography...
