D-Day minus 4

2 June 2004

43.
My Grandad, Jack Jones, served on the HMS Black Swan, and was killed on 25 August 1944. He was buried at the Naval Cemetery at Kalkara, just outside Valetta, Malta. He married my Nana, Maisie, on 2 November 1940. My Dad was born on 3 November 1943. He never knew his Dad. My Nana was given this Campaign Medal by a grateful nation. Thanks Grandad.

Its great that we are lucky enough to have such keepsakes. I seem to have more from the First World War than the Second!

belíssimo registo, intenso valor emocional aqui!
P.S. a minha foto foi tirada na praia da Foz do Arelho, se conhecer é tirada junto à rotunda na parte final da avenida junto à praia.
Cumprimentos.

Touching tribute. God bless your family and my thanks to your grandfather for his service. All gave some.....and some gave all. It reminds me that freedom is never free.

Wonderful memorial, yet very sad all the same. Bless those who served and died for our freedom.

Fascinating family history. I like the way you're using the old family photo.
