The first time I visited the United States was in 2012.
A friend took me along to a shooting range for an afternoon.
While there, we came across some police officers trying out a fancy rifle.
On hearing my accent, the police instructor came over and started chatting.
He was dumbfounded that there could be a country in which gun ownership was effectively banned.
And his reaction when he found out the police here are generally unarmed (at least, they don't have guns).
After we picked him up from the floor, he asked me if I wanted to try his rifle.
So I did.
And I hit the target from 300 metres.
Although, to be fair, it would have been more difficult to miss given its laser scope!
