Granola Crunchy Abby

Today we hiked to Grotto Falls. A short 1.2 (2.4 round trip) mile hike in the Great Smoky Mountains to get to one of the few waterfalls, in the park, that you can walk behind.

To find this locations turn towards the Roaring Fork Motor Trail at light #6 in Gatlinburg, TN.

Hard to believe this is only about 3 or 4 miles from the center of Gatlinburg.

As you can tell this was a strong backlit situation. I used the max amount of on camera flash to get enough fill.

Canon EOS 20D ,Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
1/80s f/5.0 at 18.0mm iso200 with Flash full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Excellent fill flash work James. That's a nice portrait.

Great job with the lighting. Good composition of Abby and the falls in the background. I like how the sunlight is reflecting off her hair.

I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAVE TURNED OUT IF YOU WOULD HAVE USED FILL FLASH AND APERATURE PRIORITY, f16 and 1sec or something like that to allow for the darker area in the back by the falls to expose more. Just wondering. Abby makes this photo for sure.
