Lake Tulane just outside of Whitehorse, Yukon

A funny story about this place. When you are driving the Al-Can (Alaskan Canadian Highway) in a small car and not a truck or RV you have to pretty much stop at every gas station, since the distance between them is so great you might not make it to the next one. Well being the great map man that I am decided to skip a gas station after Whitehorse, YK. Well the next gas station we arrived at on fumes, another mile and we would have been walking.

God blessed us and put a beautiful lake and resort (with a full service gas station) right at the point we ran out of gas. Well the story does not end here.

As we "coasted" up I got out and the Resort owner comes to me and introduces himself. "Looking for some gas are ya?" he says. Of course my thought out reply was "duh, yeah, please". Well he says the generator is out. I said, "Ok" which had not sunk into my tired cross country driving brain that he is the ONLY establishment around and that if he had no working generator he had no way to pump gas at his station. He went on to tell me that he has already called for a service man to bring the parts he needs to fix the generator and we should have gas in about 1 hour.

Well that gave me and Christy a chance to walk around another beautiful place, have lunch at his Resort Resturant (which was wonderful) and time for the Resort owner to take this photo of us.

LOL (I put Tuline) Sorry my bad...typo for Lake Tulane is what was meant. I think you are probably thinking of Kluane Lake, which is just North of Haines Jct Yukon.

I lived in the Whitehorse Yukon for 23 years. Also wrote a book on fishing and Camping in the Yukon with 135 lake maps and have never heard tell of a "Lake Tulane" just out side of Whitehorse. If you go North of Whitehorse a few hours the is Kluane Lake and if you go South of Whitehorse a few hours you are at Teslin Lake.
I think you have a typo there with Tuline Lake. Even to google it up it only appears in Florida. Just trying to clarify some misinformation is all. The internet is full of it.
