This rock face runs all the way up the overlook (start of the trail to the base) and there is a huge crevase in the rock face that catches wind from the valley and pushes down to this crevase that never gets direct sunlight. Much like being in the downtown area of a large city with skyscrapers, where street level high winds are caused by the skyscrapers. Anyway this area in the crevase only gets this wind and since it never gets direct sunlight it makes for "natural air-conditioning". Me and Abby stayed several minutes in this area to cool before the steep hike ahead of us.
