Vinjales. Tobacco farmer, 65 years of age (if memory serves me), works in the fields every day bringing with him 20 cigars from own crop, rolled by himself. I got one, it was the best I have tastet. This he has done sins boyhood. The crop gives him around 400 "ordinary" pesos pr year. The Pesos Convertible (special tourist valuta) is a little more than 1$, and worth 25 pesos. So officially this hard working man is earning what comes down to ca $20 pr year. Same story all around (earnings in Cuba for the vast majority is oficially in the 500-600 pesos region) - and explains the hustling everywhere. People have to rely on the black market, and are desperate.
