Vanuatu, my country. I grew up there long ago, although I only stayed for seven years, I still consider it's my home country. At least my country at heart.
After 30 long years away, I returned to Vanuatu on summer 2009 for 2 weeks. I was both happy to see the nivan people were still the good people I knew, calling me brother two minutes only after I began remembering and speaking bislama, and also sad to witness what the country had become in the hands of the current economic rulers : a new sort of a colony, except that these new colonialists wouldn't even bother about the country...
Hope the "Times might be a-changin'", as someone sang.
