Were these houses ever the same again after the flood? We lived in Jefferson Rd, and our house was riddled with damp when I was there in the 50's and 60's.
These houses may have been even worse hit, because I think you went down from the front door to the main floor level.

I can remember this view. My nan lived at 23. Her name was Harriet Woollett but she was known as Alice (never did find out why). Be nice to contact anyone who remembers her.

Does anyone remember Mrs Mathews? she lived at the end house next to ambulance station.(late 50s early 60s)

Its 54 years since I saw this for real. I lived in one of the terraced properties to the right of the fire engine in the picture. I think the head showing from the window on the left was a lady called Emma King who lived opposite us with her Husband Ted.Four doors down from her was a tiny shop and the ambulance station was on the bend in the road at the bottom
