Also, our site abutted another site to the right which had 2 rows of chalets on them. At the top of that site, where the road led in Eastchurch Carapark, was a shop that was run by a bloke called George, and the clubhouse next door was run by a chap called Les, along with his dad. They had a Jennings Chief 1 armed bandit in the bar area and my dad won the jackpot on it, worth a fiver which bought an extra weeks rent for our caravan that we were renting ( we bought our own a year or so later)

Could this be the Eastchurch Carapark ( that's the name it was called when we had a caravan there in the mid 60s) At the entrance was a small bungalow on the left with a tiny pink coloured caravan in its garden. The owner then was a Mrs Pratt, and Fred, her caretaker, would clean the toilet block and change your gas when it ran out. He had a little tractor on tracks, not wheels. I had the best holidays of my life there, at the age of 11.

The photo looks like Bramley Park But there have never been chalets on the site
The chalets were on the next field which is now Sunnymead. Sadly the chalets were dismantled
2015. The field is behind Sunnymead Club

I'm trying to find photos of our chalet park. It was right near the cliffs and my dad at 19 and my grandad built two chalets. It was at the bottom of a steep hill and from the top you could see Southend on sea. So dad built in 1961 and me and my sisters went there until we took it down in about 1977. Cried my eyes out. I loved our old chalet and the memories. Thank you for this site, mum and dad will love looking through.

I remember the wheatsheaf pub, lemonade and crisps :)

Does anyone know if this the same caravan site that is now known as warden springs. It is about 45-50 years since our family used to go there on our holidays, and I have since been back 3 times in the last year to see if anything can jog my memory, but the only thing I am sure about is that we used to go the Wheatsheaf pub which was about 1 mile from the caravan site (seemed longer because we walked, not that we had alcohol)
