Hi everyone, I cant match all your wonderful tales about staying at Bell Farm in the caravans and chalets, but I do remember some of the great times you recall (World Cup '66 for example, I was 11 then and was at their party). Hugh and Zee Bennett, and the girls, were close family friends at the time. We lived in Minster and would visit often; my parents were both WW2 ex-RAF (nearly all of our family friends were WW2 vets from all three services, in their 40s or 50s mostly), and Hugh Bennett was a former Liberator bomber pilot (submarine hunter) in RAF Coastal Command. Yep, Zee and the girls were 'stuck-up' right enough 🤣, but of course I knew them differently and I loved them all to bits. Hugh and Zee were both killed in a head-on collision with a drunk driver near Kingsferry Bridge in '67. Love the stories too, and if any of you have photos, please keep posting 'em! Thank you. Just arrived back from the I o S…as mentioned elsewhere, there is now a huge gate blocking access to Bell Farm, though I did carry on to Ashcroft and saw some of the static caravans on Bell Farm where our chalets once stood. There is though a concrete base on the lower field where the toilet and shower block once was.
Our chalet ‘Skyelyne’ was on the lower field……how many fantastic memories do my brothers and I have of our great times at Bell Farm……far too many to remember!
Stan and Dais; The Party’s whose chalet was just along from S & D.
My future sister-in-laws parent’s chalet ‘ Arfur’s ‘ Owse! backed onto the pig pens……very ripe in the summertime.
Memories of great times in the clubhouse, once we were allowed to go into there at the end of the night…..Pennies from Heaven at the end of every night. Les and Jean on the drums and Piano….my Dad, Alf, and Uncle dressing up on World Cup night. Bobbies bingo at the Endeavour and making sure we got Bobbie to reach to the highest shelf to get our prize….so we could get a glimpse of her bloomers,….. I could go on.

Stan and Daisy were my grandparents. Many happy times spent at their chalet when I was a kid. Last time there was for Poppa's funeral after he passed away there after a happy evening calling bingo at the club house.

We used to go to Bell Farm with my parents in law who had a caravan and my sister and brother in law with their son in theirs. My eldest son was quite young then. We were there when England won the World Cup. You can imagine the celebrations.
Memories of getting up to go to the toilets and smell everyone cooking their eggs and bacon😀😀
Good memories

Hi Bob

Oh what good memories. Yes remember Daisy and Stan. I seem to recall they did the sports day on August bank holidays. We had a caravan from 1960 until I think 1971. Our caravan was on the bottom field right at the end of the first row by the pig field!!!!!! My mum was always on her own with us girls cos my dad was away at sea and used to come down when he had leave. My mum was called Doll and my sister was called Mary. Remember Bobbys Bingo . Our caravan was full of those horrible plaster of paris ornaments that you got for a full house. But I am sure she first had the shed with the slot machines and moved to the Endeavour with the bingo. Mr Bennets daughters Sheridan and Carolyn really snooty. I must have some photo but live in Turkey now so will ask my sister to sort through.

is it still called Bell Farm cos tried to find it and Golden Leas came up is it the same place because if it is its lovely. Bob Smith my family used to go there same time as yours did probably know you. Do you remember the club house and the Bennets hosting the evening and all the kids participating in pennies from heaven where all the grown ups threw in their money. We spent all our summer holiday there for years. Such great memories the freedom that we had climbing the cliffs etc going to Ashcroft and getting thrown out of the new caravans. Could go on and on but hey .........
