Hi was in the Trinity church choir on the night of the incident and i remember our choir instructor who was Rev Baldock who had to run out of the church and down to the train station for the pupose of giving the last rights to any one that was no going to make it.
I was only about 12 at the time and did not know exactly what was going on.

Is this picture of the salvage work after the accident on Friday 26th February 1971, when the 17.16 train from Victoria failed to stop and crashed into the booking office, killing a lady who was buying a ticket and injuring a number of other people?
I think the train you can see through the gap is being craned back on to the rails, using the beam above it to spread the load.

The sweet shop that used to outside the station was Havilles Confectioners
