My great-great-great-great Grandmother, Eliza Hill was the victualler and sadler here in 1861 by when aged 49 she was a widow. I think she was also there with her husband Walter Hill in 1841.
Any more information such as Eliza and Walter's birth and death dates would be much appreciated.

If this is the same Halfway House that I knew, this photo must have been taken from what now is behind the pub in the car park. Southdown Rd should run up the hill to the right, and the road into Sheerness should run off to the left behind the pub. It was a lot more open in those days.
