A view towards the Railway hotel (pub), and train station to the right.
Notice the Esso station, gone now & replaced with a kwik fit.

Peggy, I'm not 100% sure what the pub is now called. It's still there as a pub.
It was the 'Fiddlers Cat', 'Bar One' and back to the 'Railway'.

Is the railway hotel building still there? What is it now?

As a child I spent many a holiday on the island (1950's/ 1960's) then in 1965 ( Moods and Rocker era) I got myself a motorbike and continued with my trips to Sheerness. Spent many a happy hour in the Station cafe. Would sleep rough either in the old dockyard or on the beach. Has anyone got any pics taken around that time. Would be great to see them or maybe even e-mail me. ( rvs.coden@hotmail.com) there was always a group of us. I even went out with a local girl ( ANNE PHILPOT from minster) Happy days
