This is the Dutch Motor Schooner Pallas that broke her moorings in a strong gale and was beached broadside across the groynes opposite the Catholic school near the esplanade in April 1929. She was re-floated on the next high tide with very little damage. This photo was taken by the local well known photographer John J Griffiths.
