And also the little hut at the entrance to the car park was occupied for many years by a guy called Alfie Yates. He was still there in '65 which was my first year as a deck chair attendant!

This is a good shot. It shows the boating pool before it was filled in with sand. You can also see the mobile jetty for the pleasure boats - Silver Star and Sheppey Queen if I remember rightly.
