Christ! I remember seeing the same film in the same cinema. Can't remember anything about it apart from a soldier dying while his dog fretted over him.

Yes, I was taken there as a little girl to see the 1956 film version of 'War and Peace', and it was then I began to loathe Napoleon. Never mind his military genius, I loathed him for the suffering he caused to his Grande Armee on the retreat from Moscow; much the same as Hitler did with the Wehrmacht. But, such is the arrogance of not a few men.
