Yes it was a pub run by the blackmore family for a long time. I believe

Looking at it now, it does look a bit grim and forbidding. I don't think I'd be going in there if I was living around here now and it was a pub.

It's still there, much tidier now but used as offices and may be flats upstairs. Just look on google earth street view.

In reply to Graham. I used to live in Jefferson Rd and went past here every time I went to the beach. I knew it was a pub but my family never went in there. Wonder why? My dad's local was the Blacksmiths too.

This building has such a strong image in my memory. I used to go past it every time I went to the beach. I have no memory of ever going inside. It used to be a pub, I believe, so I wonder why my family never went in there. Maybe it was too posh. We lived in Jefferson Rd, my fathers local was the Blacksmiths arms, and my relatives from London used to like going in the Hero of the Crimea.

Yes it's a lot tidier,John Wood [Busnessman ] converted upper levels to flats , and left Ground floor as HIS OFFICE.

This is just as I remember it. Has it been tidied up now?
