In the last week of April 2018, together with James Vincent and Jose Manuel Villarroya we had five days birding in Extremadura.
During the winter months the region had unusually high rainfall, consequently the spring landscapes we enjoyed were lush and full of colourful wild flowers.
Noticeably, however, very few butterflies and a reduced number of migrating bird species were seen, compared to previous years' reports and records.
Notwithstanding, we certainly enjoyed our trip and found the region to be a birders paradise.
