Over the past few decades, singer songwriter musicians Pete Gallagher, Pat Barmore, Raiford Starke, J. Robert, Valerie Wisecracker and others have roamed these wild lands performing hundreds of concerts and campfire sessions, fish frys and hog roasts, fire walks and hunting parties, in the woods and swamps, on boats in the Gulf, and from stages in the precious last Florida way stations like Joanie’s Blue Crab Café in Ochopee and Leebo’s Rock Bottom Bar in Everglades City. From beneath the Goodland Bridge to the sunken steps of the old Gator Hook bar, from the giant Chickee at McMillin’s Chokoloskee Point to the Red Bar where the girls of Immokalee hang, from the weekly wild Everglades hellraisin’s in camps all over the woods to the mysterious pluck of a single gi-tar string heard gliding by Totch Brown’s old island, from the World’s Smallest Post Office to Lucky Cole’s Loop Road Piece of Paradise Photo Studio. Where you will find Maureen's Beach, from all over Florida panther territory away out to where the Snook and the Pompano congregate in the Ten Thousand Islands, you may run into one or more of these troubadours. They will be strumming with the song of the crickets and rumbling with the roar of the wild hog, bellering with the bad bull gators and harmonizing with the panther late at night. Florida music.
