i'd been in london on holiday this week, and was going to leave thursday to go back to my university in the north. when it came time to check out, the hotel staff said all transport was down.

from there i went on a walk around the south bank of the thames, and then that evening into central london before leaving the next day once northbound trains were regularly running out of king's cross.
