Traveling from Braidwood to Chain of Rocks Road. I have no need to be in Chicago for any reason.
So starting the R 66 tour at the lake shore was not a priority. In the same sense, a history of vehicle break ins at the Chain of Rock bridge took the last piece of Illinois out of the picture.

In between was a very enjoyable drive through the towns filled with hard working, patriotic Americans. Too bad they have to carry the Chicago millstone.

Many towns have the town square with a pavilion and surrounded by businesses.
The country seats have the majestic architecture of the stately old courthouses.
