The Mayflower II ~ October 18th

Plymouth, Massachusetts

We took a ride down Rte. 44 last Sunday to Plymouth, MA. It's almost 1 direct line from my home and really not very far. We went out mostly to take pictures. It amazes me that after 14 generations I live so few miles from where my ancestors on the Mayflower landed. This is a replica of the original Mayflower which was destroyed in a storm years ago. It's an amazing boat, but not when you think about the amount of people that had to live on it for such a long time and distance.

It has a lot of rigging so I imagine there were very busy. Not as large as I would have expected it to be. Great capture. Thanks for sharing this.

The people, like the boats, were made of tough stuff...can you imagine, months of rolling seas & cramped conditions !! Excellent shot, nice & sharp with the 50 iso.

Nothing like a shot like this to get the imagination working. It makes one feel like heading on out to someplace. Nice.

How interesting for you - do you know where the ancestors originated? Nice shot, btw. Chris

Beautiful sky. It amazes me also how explorers long ago actually did what they did.
