I have a letter dated March 8, 1979, from M.S. Huber, Historian for the Firearms Division of Colt Industries which states in part, "NOTE: This is the second photo engraved edition from the Colt Custom Gun Shop on Automatic Pistols. This firearm has the following special features: The right side has scroll work and an unfurled banner with the inscription, "Michigan State Police 1917-1977, 60th Anniversary." On the left side is scroll intertwine with a mounted policeman, motorcycle, automobile, and helicopter."

This was 1 of 1608 produced.
