I put a Canon 500D close up filter on my 70-200 and went walkabout. This flower is the size of a nickel at most. Observations: 1) Depth of field is very narrow. 2) Focus is extremely sensitive - if you move just a fraction after composing it goes out of focus. 3) Bugs don't hang around waiting for you to figure out points 1 and 2. 4) There might be some dust on my sensor in the top left third. Dangit.
