This view shows where you cross the outlet to gain access to Grizzly lake. First you must gather your wits, then jump the outlet with death only a few feet away(!), and climb the rocks next to the two trees, and then you are at Grizzly Lake. I time all my trips to Griz to the moment I jump across the outlet. My best hike was 4 hours from China Gulch TH, now I'm in the 5.5 catagory, but I'm still jumping across the riskiest outlet I know. About 8 years ago, the fall winds were howling over 60 miles per hour straight out the outlet, so I took the safe route, crawled with full pack along the shoreline, and waded the icy lake waters carrying my small friend Pika. I've visited this waterfall 10 times in 20 years.
