Punch Bowl Falls 1977

I hiked up to Wahtum lake along the Eagle Creek trail for the first time over the July 4, 1977 weekend. The oldtimers of the PCT still fondly remember the log that hung over the falls. I've heard tales that Strider dove off of it into the Punch Bowl in 1977!

The Kelty Kids went down Eagle Creek on August 14, as did Bob of the Michiganders, the Bay City Bombers, and Nancy. Now I'll have to dig out my slides and see if there was this much water. Thanks for sharing some more great shots Deems!

Yep, the story of Paul Hacker and I jumping off of that log and joining the water is in my journal on TrailJournals.com. Such a beautiful place. Your pictures do it justice!
