The Eagle Creek Trail

This trail in the Columbia River Gorge is an incredible masterpiece of trail construction and passes through the most spectacular series of waterfalls in the Pacific Northwest. I first walked it in July 1977, and recently I returned 29 years later to see Eagle Creek again in June 2006. These pictures pale in comparison to being there.

Hi Deems, your fine photos remind me of the weekend I spent camping there with Monte Dodge in a deluge. Monte looked like a drownded rat as we trudged back to the trailhead. Happy trails, Ron Strickland

Nice coverage, Deems. The colors are so rich! This and similar waterfalls would not exist had the ice age floods not occurred. The floods stripped the lower parts of the gorge away, creating the cliffs.
