Tucked in between Yosemite and the John Muir Wilderness, Ansel's tribute is a grand place to explore, climb, and hike. The Minarets always amaze me how subtle changes in lighting enhance the jagged dark spires. Peter Stark, author of the original John Muir Trail guide 1934, rests high up on Michael Minaret. I hiked from Agnew Mdws to 1000 Island lake and then cross country to Minaret Lake in late Aug 2012. Other photos are from 1994 and 2005 hikes.
