This is one of the most beautiful monasteries in northern Moldavia. The structure, as you have rightly pointed out, is very particular. The tower is laying on crossed star oblique arches upon the naos (the detail is visible from the interior and from the exterior as well). This way of narrowing the section of the tower while preserving the wideness of the naos can be found only here, being, from my point of view, the most original thing of romanian architecture.
Another characteristic is the exterior frescoes that resisted more than 500 years in cold, wet and windy environment.
