Stunning collection of images Loren! I happened to find the same subject terribly fascinating when on vacation however I only had one rented Sony A7R and one Zeiss 50mm lens with me at the time. Too bad b/c I could have stayed up all night if I had my other gear .

Your composites are very well done. Voted!

These were all taken on Cape Cod, in West Yarmouth, looking out over Lewis Bay, except for the three where you can see a house, which were taken facing away from the bay.

Just keep trying; a lot of it is dumb luck, being in the right (safe) place at the right time. I just use the old school method of keeping the shutter open for 30 seconds (max on my camera except for B) at a time and hoping/praying. Focus on infinity, ISO 200, f7.1 or f8 depending on how light or dark the night is.
