Most of the birds in this gallery were photographed in Ft DeSoto park; the pelicans were at the St. Petersburg Pier. The pelicans showed no fear, agitation, or other reaction to people getting very close to them (about 5-6 ft); actually, they seemed kinda bored and oblivious.

Lauren , These are great! I love the shots where you can see the eyes! So cool! Looks like they're walking on water on the first set! Is it a Heron in the first shots? soo...beautiful! Thanks for sending.

My favorite shot is #23083. And gosh, I didn't know that spoonbill birds were pink (?)
