These are photos of the VIP 19th Floor at MSKCC [Sloan Kettering Hospital]. Rooms on this floor go for $2000 per night MORE than a regular room. Note that the rooms have Marble Tile Floors, Marble Baths, TV, Frig, DVD Player, Sitting Area, and many other amenities. The "Lounge" is decorated with Museum Quality Artwork.

I stayed on the 19th floor in 1998. It was an amazing experience. I was operating on for thyroid cancer. Food came from local restaurants.

I stayed here 3 weeks ago after a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction. I couldn't believe my insurance covered it. The care was excellent. The nurses were caring and courteous. My visitors were surprised as to how I was able to get a private room. I think it has to do with the kind of surgery. At least that's what I was told in recovery. And I have to say that their plastics teams have a lot of influence. Thank you MSK.

I had surgery there 2 years ago - the entire experience from beginning to end was wonderful, if you can call cancer surgery that. I think I was on the 19th floor; I asked for just a private room if available, but they put me in a Ritz Carlton room and I wasn't charged extra. I think it had to do with my kind of surgery being moved to another building and how they were using leftover rooms. I don't remember the reason but it was wonderful. The most important thing was that I got to SLEEP... it was quiet and dark.

My daughter was on the 19th floor after surgery because there wasn't a bed available in the rest of the hospital but we didn't know that. We thought the whole hospital was like the 19th floor. No one explained that it normally is for the very wealthy. The room was lovely & the whole floor was so well appointed & gorgeous floral arrangements. The staff were unbelieveably nice & accommodating to my daughter & even to me. I stayed the night & they made certain I was comfortable.
My daughter's doctor actually smiled at me when he visited my daughter on rounds. He must have thought we were rich. Prior to that, he'd only talk to my son. I think that some doctors from foreign cultures disregard women. He was an excellent doctor though & ever so happily, my daughter remains Cancer free. Many thanks to MSK & her doctor!! I love you all!!

unless you have been seriously ill, do not degrade or minimize the positive effect it has to stay win an attractive , new and CLEAN room. It is also beneficial to the family.
And to the guest who wrote they find it ridiculous ,if the patient is paying for it. it is no more ridiculous than choosing your restaurant over another or a pair of shoes or any purchase at all. It is a choice .

My sister was there after a double mastectomy and was so well cared for. It is beautiful and she was very happy to be there. Kudos to MSK for providing some luxury to cancer patients

I am just so thankful for all the wonderful care I have received at Sloan.....have been on many floors over the last 3 years. It was a pleasant surprise to find myself on 19. I believe they did not have anything else available.it is definitely quieter and more luxurious...but hey, I'm not here on vacation. The important thing is the level of care, which is always 5 star at sloan. They have saved my life, I love this hospital no matter what floor I'm on.

I was there two weeks ago. Not sure why I ended up there: I did not think my insurance would cover for this but clearly they did! I got the best care possible. Everybody was super nice. It was so quiet and comfortable. I think when you are sick that's what you want and deserve. I feel so fortunate to have had access to the 19th flr. Totally worth it if you can afford it!

I was just there...think it was a slow period.

I was a bit delusional from the anesthesia. I thought I was in a 5-star hotel...

Everyone was REALLY nice and my husband got to stay in the room with me.

So if you're dependent on what your insurance will cover, you'll get basic rooms. Again , only the rich will be able to recoup in grandeur.

I remember when my aunt was at SK, I went up to the 19th floor and it looked very elegant, especially for a hospital. The secuirty guard had to buzz you in. My aunt was actually on the 10 floor and it was very nice. Back in 1997, aside from 19, the 10th floor was newly renovated and many of the rooms on that floor were private. Did someone you know stay on the 19th floor?
