A black sand beach in Waipio Valley, on the northeast shore of the Big Island. The valley was totally wiped out in a tsunami and now is pretty much settled by counter culture squatters. It is accessible by a mile long 25% grade 4x4 road (we walked). Extremely pretty down in the bottom but vulnerable to another tsunami.
