Our Friends Nancy and David wanted to fly their airplane across the North Atlantic to Iceland and Scotland. I was asked to help as the third pilot and Katherine was able to come along share the experiences. We departed Seattle with a fuel stop in Duluth, MN. After checking weather in Bangor Maine, we decided to land in Burlington Vermont for the night. We explored Burlington that afternoon and evening...lovely town. The next day Nancy and David flew to Goose Bay-Happy Valley Airport for fuel and continue over to Iceland. I flew as copilot over the North Atlantic with David and Nancy. It took about 3.2 hours from Goose Bay to Reykjavik Iceland at 41000 feet. We stayed in Reykjavik for 2 days with one day of exploring the city and took the Inside the Volcano tour. That was spectacular as seen in the images. We departed Reykjavik for Edinburgh...short flight of 2.2 hours. We were explore Edinburgh, saw the Military Tattoo and the Highland in 4 days. David and Nancy took a day trip to York for the Railroad Museum. We stop back in Reykjavik for the night on the return trip. We were able to see Greenland and Sondrestrom Fjord as we landed at Sondrestrom airport for fuel. From Greenland we flew to Iqaluit and onward to Churchill Manitoba. We took a short tour around the Hudson Bay and were able to see Beluga Whales and Polar Bears that were one of the highlight on our trip. From Churchill it was onward to Seattle. It took us 10 days and 20 hours of flying from Seattle to Edinburgh and back. Thanks Nancy and David for the opportunity for a fabulous flying road trip and friendship.
