This Gothic-style monastery is perched on a rocky point surrounded by vast sandbeds. It is alternately surrounded by sand/grassy marsh or ocean water, depending on the tides. There is a small village at the base of the monastery (now consisting of tourist shops and restaurants). It was built as a dedication to the archangel Michael between the 11th and 16th centuries.
