The Skywatcher ED80 is an excellent first scope. For the money, it produces lovely images which should satisfy most entry-level photographers for many years.

I purchased the Skywatcher 60mm 20-60x Range Scope to act as 'guide scope' with the ED80. It worked OK but the field of view was quite narrow when coupled with the Orion Starshoot Autoguider (OSSAG). The helical focuser mechanism was also very tough to turn.
