This pier was purchased used from an 'engineer'. Suffice to say, it was not well engineered and when bumped caused significant vibration (in the order of 30 seconds which must be some sort of record!) Not suited to precision astrophotography.
Time to re-think and rebuild. Refer to Pier 1(b) and Pier 2 for details.

This was a shocking concete effort and the J-bolts bowed once the wood spacer got wet! Failure.
