Earthquake Fault

This fence straddles the San Andreas fault. During the 1906 earthquake, the west half moved 16 feet north, separating it from the east half. A local myth says that a cow was swallowed by the fault.
The fence is along “The Earthquake Trail” at the Point Reyes Visitor Center off Bear Valley Rd., I mile north of Olema, CA.

I think you are right, probably from Home Depot. It's been put there to mark where the original fence was located.

That fence is in pretty good shape for being 100 years old.
