The Olive Grove

In the year 1560 from Sevilla, Spain Don Antonio de Rivera major and camp master of Gonzalo Pizarro, brother of Francisco Pizarro, the conquistador who conquered the Incas in 1532, brought to Peru many olive plants, but only five made the long journey to the new spanish colony. In 1730 the owner of that time Don Nicolas de Rivera, built the hacienda house "Los Condes de San isidro",the wooden grind stone mill and the olive press to produce olive oil for local users and also as an export tax payable product to Spain. In 1730 there were 2005 trees and in 1828, 2831. Today is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places where you can live in Lima, can see huge olive trees as old as 400 years of age, who have died long ago but still stands firm refusing to fall.
