The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area

The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area consists of a 48-mile stretch of the Chattahoochee River running from Lake Lanier downstream through the city of Atlanta. There are 14 individual parks operated by the United States Park Service, which are for the most part, strips of primitive woodlands set aside in their natural state alongside the river as it winds through the sprawling residential and commercial areas of metropolitan Atlanta.

Max (my golden retriever) and myself occasionally visit two of these parks which are located near our home. The photographs in this gallery were taken over the last few years at the Medlock Bridge and Jones Bridge parks. I think for the proper perspective, you must keep in mind that these parks are not located in remote areas, but right in the midst of urban and suburban Atlanta.
